8 Affordable or Free Activities for Kids in 30A
If you have small kids, then 30A is the vacation destination for you. Traveling with little ones can be tricky and it’s hard to find something the entire family wants to do. Moreover, taking young kids on a trip can completely defeat the purpose of a vacation if you’re constantly trying to entertain them to no avail. Luckily, the towns along 30A understand the struggle, so there are plenty of activities for children and you can even get some much needed R&R. The best part is that most of these activities are 100% free, so you won’t break the bank and your kids will have a blast.
1. All You Need is Fun Kids Improv Bootcamp
For just $25, your kids can take an acting class with Northwest Florida’s premiere theatre, The REP. Drop your kids off at the REP Theatre in Seaside from 2 pm – 3:15 pm every Tuesday and Thursday through August 8th, and your kids will enjoy a silly and entertaining acting class with professional actors. After the class, swing by the Seaside Amphitheater at 4 pm to enjoy an improv performance during Stories by the Sea. Admission to the improv show is also free for all kids who participated in the bootcamp.
2. Huck and Lilly’s Music Performance
Head on over to the Seaside Amphitheater on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm to enjoy a musical performance your children will love. Andi Zack-Johnson and Ken Johnson are two talented singer/songwriters who transform into caricatures of themselves, Huck and Lilly. Andi and Ken’s motto is “music for kids and the grown-ups who love them,” so this is a show that your family won’t want to miss.
3. Stories by the Sea
Stories by the Sea is a free event sponsored by the Seaside Merchants and all ages are welcome. The REP Theatre presents a fun storytelling experience held at the Seaside Amphitheater Mon-Fri at 4 pm. Each day, The REP Theatre tells a new story, so no two shows are the same.
4. Beauty and the Beast
There are no shortages of kids theatrical events in 30A, so you can add The REP Theatre’s production of Beauty and the Beast to the list of shows you’d like to see during your stay. Every Wednesday through August 8th, The REP Theatre presents this performance at North Barrett Square in Rosemary Beach. Feel free to bring your low back chairs and beach blankets and sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. The best part? This event is sponsored by The Merchants of Rosemary Beach, so this is a free, non-ticketed event.
5. Moonlight Movies and Face Painting
Every Thursday night through August 9th, you and your family can enjoy Moonlight Movies and Face Painting on the Western Green in Rosemary Beach for free. Face painting begins at 5 pm and the movie starts at 8:15 pm, so feel free to hang out on the green before it begins with your kiddos. Additionally, you can also purchase the area’s best popcorn and hot dogs from DogManDu at this event, so don’t worry about planning out supper. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.
6. Adventures in Alys
Take your kids to a super fun interactive storytelling event in Alys Beach at Fonville Press Mondays at 10 am through August 6th. This event is free of charge and your kids will have a blast with this one-of-a-kind storytelling experience. The REP Theatre actors tell a new story each Monday with the help of their audience. Kids will love interacting with the storytellers and becoming part of the story.
7. Summer on the Lawn: Snow White
Every Tuesday night the Emerald Coast Theatre Company takes part in Watersound Orgins’ Summer on the Lawn Series. From 6 pm – 7 pm, your kids can watch and even participate in this interactive production of Snow White. Additionally, kids can be a part of the show and play birds, trees, and dwarves. This is the perfect free event for the family and your kids will enjoy every minute of it.
8. The Prince and the Pauper
