Things to Do

The beaches of Destin are of course free to access, however there are plenty of free and cheap activities that do not involve your toes in the water and butt in the sand. While there are of course plenty of high priced attractions on the Florida Gulf Coast, these activities will provide an exciting vacation for your family without breaking the bank: Dolphin Watching at the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier- For only a 2$ admission fee for persons over the age of 6, you can come and go as you please all day up until 12a.m. For an additional $6.50 you can rent fishing equipment and reap the benefits of Florida’s very productive fishing hole. While on the pier, you will frequently see sea turtles, dolphins, and other local wildlife. Air Force Armament Museum- This free admission museum containing 30 restored air force aircraft including spy planes, fighter jets, and the fastest plane ever built, will give your family an inside look at the most advanced aircraft used by our countries military today. The Cinema Plus in Fort Walton Beach offers a movie nightly in addition to table dining in the theater. While this activity is not free, the movie tickets are all offered at a discounted price.
